Mitchell: Hell bent on being successful

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell insists that investment in the Cherries squad will continue throughout the upcoming League One campaign.

Cherries manager Paul Groves has signed eight players over the summer and hopes to add to his squad ahead of the transfer window closing at 11pm this (Friday) evening.

Mitchell has revealed that the Cherries are in negotiations regarding new players and could be set to sign two or three new players ahead of the deadline.

23 year old Liechtenstein international Goalkeeper Benjamin Büchel could be one of the signings.

The 'keeper recently came over to England for a trial with the Cherries and played in the friendly against Wimborne Town and has trained with the squad over the past month.

He is reportedly set to agree a six month contract according to Liechtenstein newspaper Volksblatt and would join Chris Hargreaves development squad.

Büchel currently plays in the third tier of the Swiss football system with USV Eschen/Mauren.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo...

"We are hell bent on being successful and, while we have got the support, we want to use it to the best of our ability.

"We have got to be proactive to keep the club going forward. We are keen to keep improving the squad throughout the season.

"We are hoping to bring in new players but nothing is guaranteed in football. We might end up getting in two or three or we could get nobody. We are making good progress and are hoping to bring in new players before the deadline."

New manager needed - not new players. One that recognises width, the need for a ball winner and one that likes to entertain. One that can put a squad together and not waste all the roubles. We have nine centre forwards and one defensive midfielder - go figure.

Neil has summed it up beautifully. EM "We have got to be proactive to keep the club going forward."...the proactive move is obvious, so doesn't need saying again. Baldrick was funny on TV but not when he is managing our beloved Cherries, so please be "proactive" and sort it out EM.

What a load of old rubbish!!! If you wanted promotion you would sack Paul Groves for a start, he has a pathetic record. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do the Cherries some justice and get us a decdent manager. You've done a lot for the club, finally we have money to spend however the vital piece of the puzzle seems to have been missed!!!

Blah....blah.....blah......put someone in charge who has some knowledge of what a football club is about ON the pitch....we have loads a players...coaches...hypnotists etc...but no management!
Garbo
If he was that keen on being successful he'd have appointed a decent manager instead of Groves...
