Elphick: It was nice to score

AFC Bournemouth defender Tommy Elphick enjoyed scoring his first goal for the club against Preston on Saturday.

Elphick marked his Dean Court debut with a goal, the defenders first since September 2010, when he scored for Brighton against Plymouth.

The former Brighton defender is being eased back into regular first team football by manager Paul Groves after Elphick ruptured his Achilles tendon at the end of Brighton's promotion winning 2010/11 season.

He was left out of the side for the game at Oxford, before making his debut against Portsmouth, he then sat out the game against MK Dons but was re-introduced to the side against Preston.

Elphick told afcb.co.uk...

"...It was nice to score after being injured for so long, It was a feeling I had kind of forgotten. It was nice to do it in front of the fans, it was just a shame that I felt I could have done a little better for their goal but it wasn`t meant to be."
