2 Pounds for 2 Children Fulfilling 1 Dream

AFC Bournemouth`s charity co-ordinator Adam Murry has got involved in a charity fundraising campaign for two young girls who both suffer from cerebral palsy.

Little Skye Cowan, five, and Sophia Banger, seven, both suffer with cerebral palsy, the incurable condition is caused by a brain injury and affects movement and posture making everyday activities such as standing and walking very difficult.

Both Skye and Sophia`s parents have discovered their daughters could have an operation called selective dorsal rhizotomy, or SDR, to alleviate their cerebral palsy symptoms. This operation is not available on the NHS but a specialist Private Hospital in America has confirmed that these two local girls have been accepted for this life changing surgery.

However, Skye and Sophia`s families need to raise £40,000 each, which is where this campaign steps in.

On Saturday before the Cherries host Preston North End, there will be an event at 1pm for organisations or individuals who would like to be involved in supporting this campaign.

Adam Murry has already received over £7,000 in donations, but hopes that the campaign will receive a significant boost with the aid of local businesses and Cherries supporters.

Murry hopes that by asking people to donate just £2 to the appeal will really help the girls reach the golden figure for the cost of their operation.

Murry told the Daily Echo...

"Two pounds is just the price of a Euromillions ticket or a burger at a football game but you could make a real difference by giving it to this cause."

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Mark Molesley added...

"Please give generously and find it in your heart to help these two inspirational girls."

Donations can also be made at the AFC Bournemouth shop and at Spar in Westbourne and Canford Cliffs.
