Arter: Disappointed to come off

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter was disappointed to have been substituted at half time against the club from stadium:mk.

Many AFC Bournemouth supporters felt that Arter was one of the performers of the first half after putting in one of the better displays of his career and had assumed that the half time change was down to injury.

But after the game manager Paul Groves revealed that it was tactical.

The change let the visitors, who were also down to ten men following the dismissal of Alan Smith, back into the game and allowed them to find an equaliser and hold onto a point.

Arter told afcb.co.uk...

"It`s definitely two points dropped. We were in control of the game in both halves but didn`t turn our dominance into goals. I thought we could have held on to the lead and come away with all three points, but to get just one is disappointing,"

"We were pleased with our performance in the first half but it`s a game of two halves, and to have been in control and not won is the most frustrating thing. They will be pleased because they didn`t really deserve anything but they`ve nicked a point...'

'...I was disappointed to come off and it`s never to be nice to be the one that has to, but I`m pleased I started. I hope I get the chance to play again on Saturday."

Not surprised Harry was disappointed. I have been a critic of him in central midfield but Tuesday night in a different role he was a revelation. Probably his best performance for 18 months so staggering that he was taken off. Hopefully the one thing our illustrious manager has learned is that the first half formation worked.

Sounds like the classic counter-intuitive behaviour of a manager who's faliling around for what will masquerade as 'moments of genius', when in fact they're just egotisatically motivated silly mistakes. Nobody needs PG to be the star - effective management of our expensively assembled squad would be more than enough to keep our success starved fans over the moon. Keep it simple please and if its working, leave it alone.

Travesty of a substitution....changed the entire complexion of the match...we went from spraying the ball wide and stertching them...to playing into their hands and pumping balls up to Fletcher and Barnard who just got in each others way most of the time. Arter has been criticised almost merciously by some and when he does shine PG hauls him off....incredibly stupid by anyone's understanding...

Groves you plonker! Amazing how pretty much every fan could see it was a bad idea accept him.

Play the first half team on Saturday - it worked. Need a win against Preston.
