Groves: Thomas can turn it around

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves has backed striker Wesley Thomas to rediscover his goalscoring form.

The former Crawley and Cheltenham striker was a revelation when he first moved to the Cherries last season.

Mainly playing as a lone striker under former manager Lee Bradbury, Thomas scored six goals in his first six appearances away from home, scoring eleven goals in total during the season.

But the 25 year old hasn't found the net since scoring in Paul Groves first game in charge of the Cherries away to Stevenage in March.

Against Portsmouth he came close, hitting the post after being played in by Marc Pugh and Groves believes the goals will come.

Groves told the Daily Echo...

'...You see it with lots of strikers where they have barren spells and then, all of a sudden, they hit a run of form.

"Let`s hope that happens with Wes and that he gets a little bit of good fortune along the way.

"He has just not had that little bit of fortune but I am sure that if he continues to work hard, then things will turn round."
