Addison: We can sweep them under the carpet

AFC Bournemouth defender Miles Addison believes that the Cherries should have a strong enough squad to start the season victorious at Portsmouth.

Addison made his move to the south coast permanent over the summer and was selected as captain for the season opener at Oxford in the League Cup.

The new league campaign begins on Saturday with the short trip to Portsmouth.

Pompey have suffered financial problems in recent years, but Addison believes the Cherries will be in an unsympathetic mood once the game kicks off.

Addison told the Daily Echo...

'...We have got a few experienced heads and the manager has been on at us all week. He has worked at Portsmouth and knows what they will be expecting.

"But I am sure Michael Appleton (Portsmouth manager) will be telling them they can win. We have got to combat that and we definitely feel we should be able to sweep them under the carpet.

"Fratton Park is a great stadium and their supporters are brilliant. They have always been like an extra man to Portsmouth and I am sure they will be in great voice. But, if we can kill them off early and be professional in the way we go about our business, then the game could be over before they start."

This sounds too much like Tubbs we want premiership opponents, sweep them under the carpet calm down they just signed ten respectable players yesterday. I would be happy with a one nil win

An early goal would certainly calm my nerves tomorrow. Not a fan of the famous last words "We should sweep them under the carpet".
