Zubar: I always try to do my best

AFC Bournemouth defender Stephane Zubar is aiming to hold down a regular place in Paul Groves side this season.

Zubar has now played in the Cherries last three fixtures after being selected in Paul Groves starting eleven for the teams final two games of last season and the opening game of this season.

With the summer signings of Miles Addison and Tommy Elphick, competition for the centre back places is strong, with Zubar also competing for a place with Steve Cook and Adam Barrett.

Zubar told afcb.co.uk...

"Last season was quite frustrating because I wanted to play more but you have to respect the manager`s decision. It`s not easy for him with 25 players, I am training hard, and I think in the pre-season games and in Spain I have done well. The season will be long and hard and this is why we need a big side.

"We will all have the opportunity to play and we have to show our best when we are on the pitch. For me the competition is good and I always try to do my best."

"The season has just started, It is a shame we lost our first game and have some injuries, but we are a good side. Don`t forget we have seven or eight new signings and we need time...

A player that I rate, never sems to have turned in a bad performance - and doesn't give up - hope that he keeps his place.

He'd be in my team. Hope Mr Groves agrees. He has pace and strength. Both required in this league...
