Tubbs: We want a Premier League team

AFC Bournemouth striker Matt Tubbs wants the Cherries to advance to the second round of the League Cup and draw a Premier League side.

The Cherries kick off the new 2012/13 season with a trip to Oxford United in the first round of the League Cup.

There isn't a prize fund for the Football League Cup like there is for the FA Cup, but the reward of playing a big side is a good incentive for clubs to try and progress.

All Premier League clubs with the exception of those competing in this seasons UEFA Champions League or Europa League enter the competition in the second round.

Tubbs told afcb.co.uk...

"It`s why we play football - to play at the highest level we can and to play the big teams. If we do get through and get a Premier League team, then it would be fantastic,"

"I had a stint at Salisbury and we got Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup and that was fantastic. When I was at Crawley we had some good cup runs and we went to Old Trafford, so the cup has been quite kind to me over the years and hopefully that continues."
