O'Kane: Honour to play for Ireland
AFC Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O'Kane will miss this (Tuesday) evenings League Cup fixture against Oxford due to an international call-up.
O'Kane who joined the Cherries over the summer from League Two side Torquay United is expected to feature for the Republic of Ireland's under-21 squad for their UEFA under-21 Championship qualifier against Turkey.
While missing out on the chance to make his competitive debut for AFC Bournemouth O'Kane believes that he can only benefit from his involvement in international football.
O'Kane told afcb.co.uk...
"...Hopefully, me getting away to play for Ireland will mean I`m doing well here, and that can only be good for Bournemouth.
"It`s a big honour to play for Ireland. I like to go away and represent my country and I think a lot of people would take that opportunity if they could. I`m looking forward to it and hopefully we can come away with a result.
"The more times you can do it, the better. It will be good to look back on my career when I`m finished and say that I was once one of the best 20 players from my country. I want to play for Ireland as much as possible."
