Flahavan: It is out of my hands

AFC Bournemouth 'keeper Darryl Flahavan doesn't believe he deserves to lose his number one shirt.

With a large squad, the competition for places is fierce in all positions, but the debate over who should be the Cherries first choice goalkeeper has been ongoing over the past twelve months.

After a close pre-season, former manager Lee Bradbury opted to stick with Flahavan who he had signed during that summer following uncertainty regarding Shwan Jalal's future.

Flahavan kept the shirt throughout the campaign, until the final two games of the season after Jalal recovered from surgery to cure a herniated disc.

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves now has to decide who his first choice will be for the 2012/13 season and Flahavan intends to try his best no matter what the decision.

Flahavan told the Daily Echo...

"You sort of have your own little feelings on what is going to happen but we will have to see on that one...'

"...I don`t think I have done an awful lot wrong to lose my shirt but it is not my decision.

"Whatever happens will happen. It is out of my hands and I will just try my best between now and the end of the season."

I will be disappointed if i don't see Jalal in the starting Lineup on Tuesday or Saturday.

Just like the ball on most crosses then Flavs! You are a good shot stopper but need to command your six yard box more. To be honest, Jalal isn't perfect but I think he does this better than you.
believe!
^ Agree with that.

An injury-free Jalal can be back in the form of the last promotion season. He should start as our n.o.1 choice this season. We needed a keeper to control the six yard box last season. Hopefully Shwan can take this chance to reclaim his spot...

You all make valid points. If Jalal can rediscover his form of the last promotion season - no one can have any complaints and hopefully his slump in form was down to his back injury. The only thing that worries me is that his first shocker came when we beat Tranmere 5-3 in the first round of the cup, when he was at fault for all 3 of their goals and they started shooting from 40 yards - this was 6 weeks before he got injured at Orient.

Yes but if i remember correctly many keepers were unhappy at the ball because it moved to much in the air and they felt it was unfair^.
