Demouge set for injection

AFC Bournemouth striker Frank Demouge will not undergo surgery on his knee after the Dutch forward saw the surgeon this week.

The 30 year old striker suffered the injury in training after making his first appearance for AFC Bournemouth against Winchester City.

He had missed the opening two games of pre-season against New Milton and Poole Town, after being given longer to adapt to the English game by Groves.

The Dutchman then missed the games against Basingstoke and Havant & Waterlooville and it was revealed that he will face a period on the sidelines with a knee injury and it was expected he would require an operation, which would keep him out for around three months.

But on Wednesday BBC Radio Solent had reported via their Twitter page that...

#afcb striker Frank Demouge has had a scan on his knee and good news is that he will NOT need an operation. But he will be out for 4 weeks

AFC Bournemouth physio Steve Hard has confirmed that he will not have an operation, but clarified the time required for rehabilitation.

Hard told afcb.co.uk...

'Frank Demouge had his consultation with a knee surgeon where it was decided not to go in and have an operation, but to have an injection in to the knee joint instead.

'Contrary to rumours that surfaced on Twitter yesterday saying he would be back in four weeks, Frank will be doing rehab for that period before he attempts to run. If his symptoms have gone, he will return to training in six to eight weeks from now. If there is no improvement after the four week period, then he will require an operation.

'We thought it was best to try the injection first, because the operation would rule him out for a minimum of three months.
