Groves: Meades can challenge Daniels
AFC Bournemouth have offered Jonathan Meades a contract after impressing during his pre-season trial.
The 20 year old left back was released by Cardiff manager Malky Mackay earlier this summer and has featured twice during pre-season away to Havant & Waterlooville and at the Goldsands Stadium against Reading on Saturday.
Groves has been looking to add a left back to his side to offer competition to first choice Charlie Daniels, he first looked at former Wigan youngster Darius Waters, but has opted to offer Meades a two year contract and has challenged him to battle Charlie Daniels for the first team place.
Groves told the Daily Echo...
"We are getting very close with Jonathan and, hopefully, we will have secured something within the next 24 hours.
"He acquitted himself reasonably well in the two games he was involved in and has shown he has decent qualities. He is someone who could help us in that area.
"Every player has a little bit of work to do to progress and Jonathan is no different. He has the capabilities to be able to push on and challenge Charlie."
