Partington: Pressure on us all

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Joe Partington believes that the competition amongst the squad will keep the pressure on the players to perform.

22 year old Partington has struggled with injuries throughout his career and has been limited to just one league start in 18 months.

With 12 months on his contract remaining, this could be seen as a crucial year for the former Wales Under 21's captain and Partington took his chance in the pre-season friendly against Reading to impress.

Partington told afcb.co.uk...

"I feel that I`ve done OK. It was a tough game against such good opposition and I felt we kept the ball well. I had such good players around me like Shaun MacDonald. Marc Pugh Eunan O`Kane and I really enjoyed it and it was a good game to play in. It was good to get 75 minutes under my belt and although I got a little bang at the end, it was nothing serious..."

'...We have so many good midfielders here and now that Hughsie (Richard Hughes) has joined, that is more pressure on us all to do well enough to get in the squad. All the lads are very good players so it`s up to me to keep the shirt when I`ve got it...'

A fit Partington will always be in amongst the players competing for first team but don't underestimate gregory who I feel has something to prove this season.
