Hughes to make Bournemouth return

AFC Bournemouth are set to re-sign former Cherries and Portsmouth midfielder Richard Hughes.

33 year old Hughes watched the Cherries against Reading during their first pre-season fixture at Dean Court on Saturday afternoon.

Hughes retired from football a year ago after leaving Portsmouth following a contract dispute, his last game for Portsmouth was 28th December 2010.

He is now set to come out of retirement to sign a two year contract at the Goldsands Stadium, subject to passing a medical next week.

Hughes joined Pompey in 2002 after four years with AFC Bournemouth, the Scottish midfielder made 154 appearances for the Cherries before spending the next 9 years at Fratton Park, playing 165 games.
