Redknapp to open Cherries training ground

AFC Bournemouth unveils its new training ground to the public this Saturday, and Cherries legend Harry Redknapp is set to cut the ribbon.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth manager will be joined by the Mayor of Bournemouth - as Kings Park takes centre stage for the grand opening.

Also joining the pair is AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves and chairman Eddie Mitchell.

The Kings Park training base compromises of two full sized natural grass pitches constructed to the exact specification of the Goldsands Stadium surface, as well as two additional 3G pitches.

Open to the public, the ceremony takes place at 1.30pm, before the Cherries take on Premier League new boys Reading at 3pm.

Eddie Mitchell said, 'I am absolutely thrilled that Harry is joining us on Saturday - it will be a real honour to entertain him at the Goldsands Stadium before the game and have him cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

'We are hosting a Premier League club who are really on the up and it is a fantastic occasion for the town.

'As a club, AFC Bournemouth are hot on the heels of the Readings of this world and the new training facilities are a great way to illustrate this.'

Entrance to the match is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. The opening of the training pitches is non-ticketed, but AFC Bournemouth recommends punctuality as the event is expected to be well attended.
