Groves: It`s a massive change for Demouge

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves believes that Dutch striker Frank Demouge is slowly adapting to football in England.

The 30 year old striker made his first appearance for AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, playing the first half against Winchester City.

He had missed the opening two games of pre-season against New Milton and Poole Town, after being given longer to adapt to the English game by Groves.

6ft 3in Demouge, came through the youth system at Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie, before moving on to FC Eindhoven, FC Den Bosch and Willem II Tilburg before moving to Eredivisie side FC Utrecht in August 2010, initially on loan before making the move permanent last summer.

Last season in the Eredivisie, he scored 7 goals in 23 appearances, with five of those goals coming in his final four appearances of the season.

Demouge was reportedly recommended to Cherries manager Paul Groves by Cherries Russian co-owner Maxim Demin and in June 2012 he agreed a two year deal to move to England, after FC Utrecht agreed a free transfer.

Groves told afcb.co.uk...

"It was a little bit of a baptism of fire for Frank. We would like to play him on slightly better surfaces and we can then give him better service. I felt though he was a handful for them in the way that he played. Frank is an adaptable player. He went to Winchester and ended up playing with his back to goal and having a good awareness of people around him, trying to set them up while also getting himself around the box when balls were played in. He has other attributes to his game that will be very different to what we saw."

"It`s a massive change for him.  On a day to day basis with regards to his training regime, it is very different to Dutch football, but he can give us something different and he is an exciting prospect for us and he will be a threat."
