Groves: Pre-season takes a step up next week
AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves is looking to push his players with a step up in quality over the next week of the pre-season campaign.
The Cherries have so far enjoyed a summer training camp in Spain and have played three games against non league sides New Milton, Poole Town and Winchester City.
The games have brought two wins and one defeat, with 17 goals scored and 3 conceded.
AFC Bournemouth are set for three games over the next seven days with back to back games against Basingstoke Town and Havant & Waterlooville on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, before hosting Premier League side Reading on Saturday at Dean Court.
Groves told afcb.co.uk...
"Looking at the two games, what we can take from it that the players have stepped up their time on the pitch, and we have come through injury free.
'The performances have been mixed, and at this early stage, it`s something we can accept to a degree. It is important that we keep extending the players, and we step up next week playing against Conference South clubs and then Championship and Premier League opposition. These games will give us a different kind of test."
