AFC Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher celebrated two major milestones this week.
He started the week by celebrating 20 years of association with the Cherries as the date of his move from Hartlepool to Dean Court in 1992 was remembered and it ended with the striker celebrating his 40th birthday.
With one year remaining on his current contract Fletch has begun to look at how he can continue his involvement at the club following his retirement, but despite being reportedly the oldest outfield player in the Football League, his manager Paul Groves insists that despite the competition for places he still has a role to play in this years League One campaign.
Groves told the Daily Echo...
"He will play a key role because he will play a part off the pitch as well as on it. It remains to be seen how much he plays because there is strong competition in that area which is what you want...'
'...I think people underestimate what he brings to the dressing room. He is a fantastic character and a pleasure to have around. He has a big value to the club and uses his experience in the right way.
"You can have experienced players but it is about how they use that experience. Steve uses it to try to help the younger ones and help the dressing room. I have got nothing but praise for him...'
