Groves to test the Waters

AFC Bournemouth have handed 18 year old left back Darius Waters a trial at Dean Court.

The former Wigan 2nd Year Scholar has joined up with the Cherries development squad and has been working with new AFC Bournemouth development squad coach Chris Hargreaves over the past week and is set to feature against Poole Town on Friday evening.

Groves told the Daily Echo...

"Chris has given me some good reports. People can fare well in smaller areas or tighter groups in training and then not do so well in games or vice-versa. You have to see people in training on a daily basis and Chris has done that. We will view him in the game and, hopefully, something positive will come from it."

Meanwhile on Tuesday evening it was reported that Torquay had accepted a bid from a 'mystery' League One club for 22 year old midfielder Eunan O'Kane, O'Kane who has played for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at under 21's level has a £175,000 release clause at Torquay and was previously a target for Sean O'Driscoll at Crawley Town and has been scouted by Burnley manager Eddie Howe.

He later missed Torquay's pre season friendly against Tiverton Town, the official line from Torquay was that it was a 'hamstring injury', however the Western Morning News reported that it was because 'there is strong speculation the Cherries have made an approach.'

When asked about the Cherries recent links to O'Kane and Sheffield United midfielder Lee Williamson, Groves added...

"They are both players we are aware of but we are not taking anything forward, at this moment in time."
