Brooks: We want to control games

AFC Bournemouth assistant manager Shaun Brooks has explained the philosophy behind the Cherries plans for the new campaign.

When Lee Bradbury departed Dean Court and Paul Groves and Shaun Brooks took over the first team managerial positions, even during their period as temporary appointments, an emphasis on the style of play was immediately installed.

Following Groves and Brooks being given the jobs on a permanent basis, Groves and Brooks have re-built the Cherries youth system and intend this same style to be developed throughout the new academy.

With Brooks having previously been a Cherries player, the assistant manager believes that this style of play will prove popular with the Dean Court faithful.

Brooks told the Daily Echo...

'...The fans do like a certain way of playing. I think it is the right way to play...'

'...We want to control games through possession but we also want to get in shots at goal, score goals and get crosses in the box.

"We want to play effective, attacking football with a certain amount of organisation and discipline instilled within that.

"I think anybody that pays to come to watch a game of football, the least they should expect is that players give their all in every game. That is absolutely a given for any footballer that puts on a shirt...'
