AFC Bournemouth attacker Lewis Grabban is looking forward to the challenge of winning a spot in the Cherries starting eleven next season.
The former Rotherham United player, was the top goalscorer in League Two last season and he also won Sky Sports goal of the season award.
He made his debut against New Milton on Wednesday scoring twice during the 13-0 drubbing of the Wessex League side.
But with competition from Matt Tubbs, Wesley Thomas, Josh McQuoid, Steve Fletcher, Frank Demouge and Charlie Sheringham, Grabban is looking forward to the challenge of fighting for a place amongst the starting eleven when the Cherries kick off the new League One campaign away to Portsmouth.
Grabban told afcb.co.uk...
"I feel it went well. We got a good result and it was good for fitness as well. It was nice to get a couple of goals, and to get off the mark so early with the first one was nice. I felt I put in a decent performance and that will help me build my confidence as we go on to the next part of pre-season.
"The lads have been fine and helped me settle here quickly. I like it down here, it`s a bit different from London, a lot calmer, and apart from the weather it`s been ok! They have helped me ease in to it here and it has been a good week, coupled with a decent game, so I`m pleased with it."
"There was virtually two first teams out there on Wednesday and it`s a big challenge for us of with the competition for places. That can only raise the standards of everyone, and you have to focus on your own game and look to nail down that spot in the starting eleven."
