Groves: No rush for Demouge

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves has said that Cherries striker Frank Demouge was rested for the Cherries pre-season opener against New Milton on Wednesday evening.

The Dutch striker who made the move to England from Eredivisie side FC Utrecht earlier this month, was the only absentee as Paul Groves squad put on a rampant display, winning the match 13-0.

Demouge was reportedly recommended to Cherries manager Paul Groves by Cherries Russian co-owner Maxim Demin and in June 2012 he agreed a two year deal to move to England.

He past his medical when he came to Dean Court at the start of the month and joined the other members of the squad for pre-season, but Groves has decided to treat the 30 year old Dutchman differently to the rest of the squad due to the nature of pre-season in England being different to what he has been used to in Holland.

Groves told the Daily Echo...

'We have tried to treat Frank slightly differently. He has come from a different country and the work regime they have in Holland is very different to ours.

"It is less intense and there is less volume so we felt to throw him in so early might be a little too much. There is no real rush and it was more for protection and trying to look after him."
