Molesley: Raising my game

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Mark Molesley is hoping to raise his game after returning to full fitness.

Twelve months ago Molesley was aiming to put his long injury lay-off behind him.

Between October 2009 and August 2011 Molesley made just two appearances, totalling 16 minutes towards the end of the 2010/11 season.

A persistent foot problem kept Molesley out for around a year before an ankle injury in March 2011 delayed his return until the tail-end of that season.

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season Molesley was ready to return and featured for the Cherries in ten of the first eleven games of the season before a hamstring injury picked up against Leyton Orient in September sidelined him until November 2011.

Molesley made just four further appearances for the Cherries last season and spent the last month on loan at League Two side Aldershot, where he made eight appearances (two starts) scoring once.

With just twelve months remaining on his current contract at Dean Court the popular midfielder now hopes to finally get his career back on track, starting this (Wednesday) evening in the Cherries first pre-season game of the summer away at New Milton (kick off 7.45pm).

Molesley told the Daily Echo...

"The past couple of years have been a nightmare. I don`t want to dwell on it too much but it has been a tough time for me, especially mentally. I worked so hard on getting back after the operation but, being out for so long, took its toll on me.

"Sometimes, I was my own worst enemy and tried to do too much, too soon. I was trying to make up for lost time but, unfortunately, there is no quick route to getting fit...'

'...We have got a very strong squad and you can only improve by training every day with good players. The training, together with the demands and expectations of the management, are hopefully going to raise my game and help get me back to where I was...'

We would all love to see Mark back to where he was before his injuries, our best midfielder at that time, can only hope that he remains injury free and able to play as we know he could - there's certainly a place for the taking in midfield.

A fit Moseley is always handy when challenging for promotion

He'd get a place in my midfield if he was fit. Good luck, Mark
