Fletch: It's a little bit daunting

AFC Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher has admitted that he found the first day back at training a little bit daunting.

Towards the end of last season Fletch was sent out on loan to League Two side Plymouth by former manager Lee Bradbury, but returned to Dean Court to be involved in the final game of the season.

New manager Paul Groves held a meeting with Fletch where the 39 year old discussed his future and with one year remaining on his contract, it was decided that Fletch would stay to fight for his place in the squad.

Fletch will be part of a large attacking group of players in the Cherries squad, with Groves having a number of options from Wesley Thomas, Matt Tubbs, Charlie Sheringham, Jayden Stockley and new signings Josh McQuoid, Lewis Grabban and Frank Demouge.

The quality of the squad has left Fletch excited, but he also found it a bit daunting.

Fletch told afcb.co.uk...

'I'm always confident but this year tops it for me, Walking in that changing room, it's a little bit daunting with the quality of the boys!

'It's great to see all the faces again after not seeing them for six or seven weeks. A lot of new faces too, especially on the staff.

'Pre-season doesn't get any easier but we know we're going to be fit, strong and ready to go by the end of it and everyone wants to be in that team for the first game of the season.'
