Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has admitted defeat in his chase for AFC Bournemouth striker Matt Tubbs.
On Thursday Evans had once again reiterated his desire to work again with Cherries striker Matt Tubbs.
At the end of last season, Evans made his first move to take Tubbs to Rotherham and the ambitious League Two side made a 'significant six figure bid', which would have broken Rotherham United's own transfer record, but the Cherries rejected the approach.
Rotherham had not made a further bid for Tubbs, but with the latest additions to the Cherries squad of Josh McQuoid, Lewis Grabban and Frank Demouge, Rotherham were reportedly contemplating making a second move for Tubbs.
But the Cherries have again made it clear that Matt Tubbs future does remain at Dean Court and Evans will now move on to other targets.
Evans told themillers.co.uk...
'...AFC Bournemouth have now made it very clear that Tubbsy is not for sale and is a concrete part of their plans. That for now is the matter closed and I wish the lad every success in the season ahead. I have said many times he is a quality striker and I have a lot of time for him on and off the pitch but we now move on.
AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves told the Daily Echo...
'...What you have to recognise is that people who do well in their particular area are going to get talked about by other people. You are never going to stop that.
"What you can do is say that they are not for sale and that is what we have said...'
