Evans: I would love to work with Tubbs again

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has once again reiterated his desire to work again with Cherries striker Matt Tubbs.

Evans previously worked with Tubbs at Crawley Town where he signed the Verwood based striker from Salisbury City.

Tubbs went on to score 58 goals in 78 appearances for Crawley before he was sold by Evans to the Cherries for a club record fee.

Evans moved to Rotherham at the end of last season and one of his first moves in the transfer market at the end of the season was a 'significant six figure bid' for Tubbs, which would have broken Rotherham United's own transfer record, but the Cherries rejected the approach.

Rotherham have not made a further bid for Tubbs, but with the latest additions to the Cherries squad of Josh McQuoid, Lewis Grabban and Frank Demouge, Rotherham have been linked with another move.

Evans told The BBC...

'...It's no secret that I was the manager who took a chance on Matt Tubbs, Matt Tubbs is a fantastic player, first and foremost, and a great goalscorer and he's top class young man.

'Football is football, would I see myself working with Matt Tubbs in the future? Yes, I would love to.

'First and foremost he's an AFC Bournemouth player and the truth is he is in AFC Bournemouth's plans...'

AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell told the Daily Echo when asked about the comments...

"...we haven`t (received a further bid from Rotherham).

"They wouldn`t get him anyway because he looks lean and mean, he is fit, he has looked after himself in the close season and we can`t wait to get him on the pitch."

Feel free to come to Bournemouth and perhaps become a cleaner for the stadium toilets, then at least you will be working in the same place as Tubbs
