Tubbs: Working hard to cement first team place

AFC Bournemouth striker Matt Tubbs is looking forward to the fierce competition for places at Dean Court next season.

The Cherries record signing will be fully fit for the start of pre-season after being out of action since the beginning of March following surgery on a groin problem.

Tubbs will be competing for a place in the starting line-up against Wes Thomas, Charlie Sheringham, Steve Fletcher, Jayden Stockley and new signings Frank Demouge, Josh McQuoid and Lewis Grabban.

League Two side Rotherham United had previously shown an interest in signing Tubbs, but the striker remains happy on the south coast and he believes if he is happy off the pitch then that will be reflected in his performances on it.

Tubbs told Daily Echo...

'...There is always pressure when you move to a club. Regardless of the price, fans have expectations.

"The injury came at a frustrating time for me because I scored on my debut, I was training well and then got the injury, which was a bit of a kick in the teeth...'

'...I am in my prime, I am happy and I am a firm believer that if you enjoy your life off the pitch, then you will enjoy it on the pitch.

"It is just a case of working hard and trying to cement that place now."

Happy to have Tubbs in our squad & I don't want him to leave. He may not of bagged goals yet but they will come as his movement is still brilliant.
