Groves: We will concentrate on how we play

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves has dismissed the need for the Cherries to sign a midfield 'enforcer'.

At times last season the Cherries lost the battle in the centre of the park to teams who had a much stronger central midfield and this has led to rumours that AFC Bournemouth could attempt to bring former Dean Court favourite Anton Robinson back to the south coast from Huddersfield, following their promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs.

But Groves has dismissed the speculation linking Robinson with a return and believes the Cherries can control games next season as a unit, rather than with the use of a ball winning midfielder.

Groves told the Daily Echo...

"When people talk about enforcers, I think it is very difficult to enforce in the modern game...'

'...we want to make sure that we concentrate on our team playing the way our team plays. We feel that is more important.

"We accept that you have to try to stop the opposition playing and we will do that as a unit rather than giving that one particular job to one individual. That needs to be a collective thing..."

Regardless of the above, our Midfield is a one of the weakest in this league. Having 8 strikers is great, but you cant have them on the pitch all at the same time. Unless our gameplan is just to outscore the opposition ie lots of 4-3 wins, we are still going to struggle when not in possession of the ball.

...let's just let PG sort it all out...he still has a couple of months to go before we should be speculating and worrying...

Plenty off options out there should we go for a midfielder. I f we aint looking for a ball winner then Wordsworth is proberly the best option but again unless we fork out alot of cash then it wont happen & tbh I don't like signing players for large amounts for our standerds because we've sold better for alot less.

I congratulate PG for at last signing a big target man striker and for getting Grabham a proven goalscorer up front but he is wrong about not needing a quality ball winning midfielder the ones we have are poor, McDonald does not tackle, or score from midfield, Arter poor marking, poor discipline, Parkinson too weak and injury prone,, Gregory lazy and weak, McDermott innefective, poor passing and does not score enough goals. THIS IS A VERY WEAK MIDFILED WHICH CERTAINLY NEEDS STRENGTHENING
