Groves: Strugnell will continue to develop

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves has backed defender Dan Strugnell to continue his development next season.

Strugnell, who was sponsored by the AFCB Vital fans donation scheme while he was part of the Cherries youth set-up, agreed a new one year deal at the end of last season.

The 2012/13 season will be his second season as a professional and Groves believes he will continue to impress while playing for the Cherries new development squad.

'I think the season he spent with the first team was very helpful to him, but I think being part of the development squad gives him the opportunity to push on and develop further,'

'He will be in an environment that will help him to improve and make good strides for the future.'

'I think Dan has got some good physical attributes and has shown a strong desire to learn and improve. He's in a good position to go forward and I think he showed that when he got a taste of first team football last season.
