Rofe: I'm like a kid with a new toy

AFC Bournemouth have confirmed that Dennis Rofe has been appointed as the Cherries new first team coach.

Rofe joins Paul Groves new back room team, alongside new performance analyst Garvan Stewart and new head of sports science Dan Hodges who have also recently been added to the set-up at Dean Court.

62 year old Rofe has recently worked as a regional youth development officer for the Football League, but the majority of his experience comes from his time at Southampton where he has worked with their youth academy, reserves squad and as a first team coach.

He has also worked with Bristol Rovers, Stoke, Fulham, Kingstonian and Luther Blissett's annual Premier League Soccer Camp in the Bahamas.

Rofe told BBC Radio Solent...

'I can't really explain how excited I am, I had turned down a few offers from clubs because I have done the 'living away from home' experience, which isn't easy for coaches,'

'So I took this job at the Football League and I could have done it for the next 10 years. But all of a sudden Paul rang me up completely out of the blue. I've been to meet him a few times and it got my adrenaline flowing.

'I am really looking forward to the challenge, Portsmouth away, first game of the season. I'm like a kid with a new toy.'
