Cherries agree terms with unnamed striker

AFC Bournemouth have agreed personal terms with an unnamed striker.

Cherries manager Paul Groves recently revealed that the club were in the early stages of negotiations with a potential new signing, but AFC Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell has now stated that personal terms have now been agreed and he believes the deal will be completed over the next few days.

The Daily Echo's Neill Perrett has posted on Twitter that Leon Clarke and Paul Hayes are 'not thought to be targets' after the pair were linked with moves to Dean Court on Thursday.

Instead the Daily Echo reporter believes that the Cherries are 'understood to be on the trail of a striker from abroad'.

Mitchell told BBC Radio Solent...

'We have agreed terms, now it is just down to whether his club will release him,'

'The likelihood is that it will be announced within the next three days.'

Could it be that Swedish/english striker we were looking at last year?

James Keene? I hope not tbh, didn't think he was that brilliant when we loaned him from Pompey, although that was a while ago do he could have improved

I am a little confused with EM statement, firstly how can we agree terms with someone not knowing if his team will allow him to leave, surely you must agree terms with the club b4 you agree terms with the player?! it also sounds like it may be a free transfer as EM used the term 'release'

possibly non-league I think you're allowed to speak to them if they are below a certain level without club permission, or of course if he plays in say Russia he may only have 6 months left on his contract so anyone could speak to him then
