Groves: Experience will benefit McQuoid

AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves believes Josh McQuoid's recent international experience with Northern Ireland will benefit to him.

McQuoid was part of the Northern Ireland squad who recently played Holland ahead of their Euro 2012 campaign.

The former Cherries youth team graduate didn't get to play in the game which finished 6-0 to the Dutch, but just being part of the trip will have given the striker some experience according to AFC Bournemouth manager Paul Groves.

Michael O'Neill could include McQuoid in Northern Ireland's plans for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, which would mean that McQuoid would miss some games through international call-ups.

Groves told afcb.co.uk...

'It's something we have to look in to and deal with. I've experienced it at other clubs and you have to look at the players after they've been away...

'...Even though Josh didn't play a part (in the game against Holland) he would have taken a lot from the preparation and playing with different players, some with a lot of international experience, and ultimately that will benefit him and the club,'

'I think for anybody to go and play for their country is a massive achievement and honour, and it's great for the football club. It highlights the ambition we have and the direction we are trying to go in.'
