Malone: I've had the last laugh

Former AFC Bournemouth left back/winger Scott Malone has criticised Cherries manager Paul Groves following his transfer to Millwall.

Scott Malone completed a cash plus swap move to Millwall earlier this week, with the Cherries receiving a undisclosed fee, with Josh McQuoid re-signing for AFC Bournemouth.

With Malone second choice behind left back Charlie Daniels and potentially third choice for the left wing role behind Marc Pugh and Donal McDermott, Groves approached Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell about the possibility for a swap deal and with the move completed he has now stated that the deal changes the dynamics of the squad.

Groves also stated that there had been 'no falling out with Scott', however Malone appears to disagree.

Malone told the Daily Echo...

"There must have been a reason why I didn`t play in the last two games of the season. I was clearly not in his plans but have had the last laugh as I am moving up a league.

"Lee Bradbury brought me in and I owe him some of the credit for giving me the opportunity to get this move. But I probably would have gone even if he had still been here so you can`t say a change in manager swayed my decision.

"I had a meeting with the new manager a couple of days after the last game of the season when I was given my programme for the summer. He told me to come back in July and said I was part of the squad. Since then, he hasn`t spoken to me about the swap deal. A phone call would have been nice..."

...laugh away YOU have to prove yourself yet Scott...before you laugh at little old AFCB.....MFC will be fight relegation next season anyway and Jackett will have been sacked
Garbo
Good luck even getting in to the first team Scott. If Liam Feeney struggled, I suspect you will be shipped back out to a lower division in a year or 2. Happy bench warming!!
bournemouth_ryan
LOL! This is like Nicklas Bendtner leaving Arsenal for Sunderland and saying "I have the last laugh".

Another player that thinks he is better than he actually is Success will not happen overnight Scott - you have to work hard and earn it

Looks like in 18 months he'll be back in league 2 where he belongs, wasn't that good at league one, will fail at millwall.

whats wrong with you all??? malone was on fire before he got injured and EVERYONE was raving about him, true he wasnt quite the same player when he returned from injury but he still scored more than most last year and no player deserves to be treated like that who plays for us and hadnt engineered a move away, if EM had sold him before he got injured you'd all have been slagging him off again, but it just goes to show how fickle (& arrogant/stupid) 'fans' are these days. quality players are in short supply and we know best of all it'd be nice to hang on to a couple of the good 'uns so think twice before handing out the verbal to players like malone who may well one day grace us with their presence again (just like McQuoid is now, who by the way was slated for leaving [and you guys know which of you joined in the bashing]) yet look at you all now lapping it up, as if no-one had been even the least bit hypocrytical..........................pathetic

p.s. good on you malone, hope you get better treatment down there (just a shame its the thugs playground!!)

Hey I still like Malone & sad to see him leave but the way he said he was gona leave anyway just seemd abit tw*tish
Will-AFCB
It's just the contex in which he said it. He should of just left to a bigger club & thank the supporters rather than being abit childish
Will-AFCB
its all a bit weird, regardless of what you think of Scott Malone's comments, I don't get the Manager. Sacked Cummings in a 30 second phone call - didnt even bother to speak to Scott Malone. Whoever's right or wrong - its all a bit weird.

^richh81 I am not sure what you think is pathetic. A manager doesn't fancy a player that has attitiude about being on the bench - did you see him virtually refuse to go on at the end of the Preston game? The drinking culture thing has been mentioned. He also wasn't the best left back or left winger at the club. I appreciate there may be more to go for similar reasons but Millwall's interest made his move possible and IMO it was in our best interests...
