Cherries and Watford agree fee for Wiggins

AFC Bournemouth have agreed a bid reported to be in the region of £250,000 for left back Rhoys Wiggins.

The Daily Echo have reported the fee was agreed on Wednesday night and Wiggins will head to Watford today (Thursday) to hold talks with Watford manager Sean Dyche.

Watford had two bids of around £150,000 rejected for Wiggins in March, which prompted Wiggins to hand in a transfer request.

Wiggins told the Daily Echo on 24th March...

'I was told early on that if ever a club from a higher league came in, Bournemouth wouldn`t stand in my way.

'I was told, more or less when I first came down, that other players wouldn`t be sold and would be kept, and a few players have gone...

'...it is a chance for me to further my career and I think Watford is the sort of club that ticks all the right boxes for me....'

I thought Rhoys played great, tried his heart out and always made clear that he wanted Championship football. So good luck to him, thanks for everything Rhoys.

I agree he deserves his chance. He came back from a transfer request and played well so he's not done a Bartley or a McQuid, so I wish him well. £250k is probably about right really. It is hard to stomach that we probably could have got three times that in a higher league, but I guess that's the nature of football.

...wonder what the sell on is, to Norwich, and what we may have put in?
Garbo
Did we no get him for free from norwich?
chris skyline
Mixed reaction from you guys, which i understand having lost our manager to Cardiff! watched him in the play offs, you reckon he can cut in the championship?
ANDY710
Honestly think he might struggle in championship. He's good going forward and worked well with Pugh but i think he struggled defensively. Plus he's all left he will turn 360 degrees to get it on his left peg.
bsar
we lost our manager to burnley - he was another judas not good enough for the championship, he'll get torn apart
nizlo
Actually, I would back Burnley for at least a playoff spot. Howe is a great manager and he will spend wisely. Last day of the transfer window he will poach Jalal, Feeney, Pugh and Robinson
chris skyline
i was talking about wiggins not being good enough for the championship - howe is a great manager with an eye for talent, but i have no respect for him as a man
nizlo
...will struggle in the championship I reckon, but good luck to him. Not sure any of our remaining players are truly top six championship class, with th exception of Pugh (based on his early season form)...not sure that we will lose Robbo or Feeney. I think that Jalal is off and Pugh will go too...
Garbo
So nizlo, lets say you worked somwhere right, on say £1000 per week. Are you telling me, that if someone phoned you up and said "Do you want to work for my company instead? We will pay you £8000 per week", you would say no??????????? Of course you would, you wouldnt say "No, i love this company its means the world to me" because thats not how life works. You think about a better life for your familly, with better cars and holidays, nice big house, same as anybody else would. Infact, you would have to be an idiot to turn it down. Fans need to realise that whole romanticism and passion for a club is only shared by the fans. Generally for the players and managers, a job is a job and you work for money to pay the bills and have a good quality of life. You dont turn down massive job opportunities for "the fans" because really, its none of thier buisness. How you can call a manager who kept us in the football league, then won promotion a "Judas" is absolutely beyond me. What was he supposed to say? "No, il stay here on lower wages because I love the fans waaaaa and I love the club waaaaaa Bournemouth means this and that to me waaaaa" give me a break, this is real life.
chris skyline
That's the trouble with the clubs we support, we are always gonna be kept. Like mushrooms and fed lots of pooh! One day, players and managers will show loyalty like they did years ago, until then it will always be emotional for me and you, all the best for the coming season..
