Lovell: Ings was unlucky

AFC Bournemouth striker Steve Lovell was impressed by strike partner Danny Ings' reaction following a first half penalty miss.

Huddersfield 'keeper Ian Bennett brought down Rhoys Wiggins during the first half of the Cherries Play-Off game at Dean Court on Saturday and following his successful penalty at Yeovil, Ings stepped up, only to see Bennett save his effort.

But Ings didn't let his head drop and the missed opportunity didn't affect his game as the pair continued to show signs of an evolving strike partnership.

Lovell told the Daily Echo...

'...All strikers miss chances and penalties - it happens. But you have got to keep going - like he showed - and he created chances and played well.

"It is not easy. It was a high-pressure game and he had the courage to take it and he was unlucky. I am sure, next time, he will put it away.

"He has got bags of ability. I feel it is all good experience for him and some of the lows he gets are all part of learning and becoming a better player."

...maybe...just maybe...Lovell should have grabbed the ball and taken it..being the more experienced player?...fair play to Danny for stepping up

i wouldn't be surprised if we get another penalty, huddies commited a lot of fouls in the first leg and with so much at stake they might make careless lunges in their box. If Pugh starts he should be our pen taker followed by mcdermott

...they are a physical side, but are well organised, I think we looked more mobile on Saturday and players like Pugh,McDermott,Feeney and Ings could cause them a great deal of trouble on the break?

Cant understand how you only managed a draw on Saturday Toon were there for the taking. It will be a different story at the Pharm on Weds night.Bring some happy pills with you because i cant remember the last time we played as bad as that, your going to need them.

huddies were worse than that when we played them at dean court earlier in the season, we our by far the better footballing team. But with their big name, high earning and experienced players you would have to say huddersfield are the favourites, huddies are more clinical in front of goal than us and I think the ref will give everything their way as this is the play offs and we are the smaller club.
