Former AFC Bournemouth director Adam Murry has talked about the pressures of being on the Cherries board.
Murry became involved with AFC Bournemouth in December 2008, he played an instrumental part in naming Eddie Howe as manager in January 2009 and was the figure head for the clubs takeover in the summer of 2009 purchasing the club from former owners Paul Baker and Alastair Saverimutto.
He watched on as the club first avoided relegation out of the Football League, to win promotion the following season back to League One after a two year absence.
Off the pitch the football club has moved from a perilous financial position to one which can afford to look past the general day to day survival which has plagued the club in recent years.
Murry told the Daily Echo...
'...Prior to my involvement, I was not a footballing man and was not prepared for the emotions and passion shown by football fans. Whatever decisions the board make, they have to be correct and you have to be able to back them up. There was always an underlying stress of deciding whether you had made the right decisions...'
'...Having witnessed the pressure on directors as yet another skeleton fell out of the closet, I also feel privileged to have seen that pressure replaced with a grim determination to succeed. A sense of achievement came with seeing bills being paid on time and the legacy debt reducing little by little.
"Sometimes, you would read something on a message board and wish the fans could see the reality. Board members are human beings and we made mistakes. But we tried and kept trying until we got it right..."
