Cummings: We took our punishment
Cummings: We took our punishment
AFC Bournemouth fan favourite Warren Cummings has spoken about negatives comments made towards the Cherries from opposition managers.

Accrington`s John Coleman, Rochdale`s Keith Hill and Macclesfield's Keith Alexander were all accredited with negative pre-match comments ahead of their games against AFC Bournemouth.

Despite having 27 points deducted over two seasons, which resulted in relegation from League One and almost relegation from League Two out of the Football League.

Some managers appear to believe the Cherries have somehow gained an advantage from years of financial insecurity and recent administration, which almost saw the football club go out of business.

But while Alexander later denied he had made the comments ahead of Macclesfield's home game against AFC Bournemouth, it was too late, as it had already been used by the Cherries for pre-match motivational purposes.

Cummings told the Daily Echo...

'...There are financial constraints and have been ever since I`ve been here. But they have got nothing to do with the players. We can only do what we can do. What`s gone on previously is down to other regimes.

"As a team, we ended up getting relegated to this league and that was nothing to do with what happened on the pitch. We took our punishment and if people want to come out and have a pop at us, it`s down to them. We don`t mind.

"We`ve got a good spirit and will just carry on. I would be lying if I said it hadn`t been mentioned at some point what other managers think of our club and how it is being run...'
