'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Webb Thanks Eddie

George Webb has spoken about his pleasure of earning his first pro-contract at Dean Court.

The 18 year-old has been given a 3 month contract, like Steve Hutchings, to prove himself to Eddie Howe after coming through the youth system.

The versatile player, probably found best at home in centre-midfield told The Daily Echo how grateful he was of Eddie to give him a chance:

'My main goal now is to repay Eddie. He could have said 'no`, but he has given me time and I`ve got to impress and do everything I can to catch the eye and hopefully get my deal extended. I`ll work hard over the summer and come in for pre-season and make an impact.'

The boy from Poole will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Brett Pitman and Sam Vokes and tread the turf he once watched Carl Fletcher, Jermain Defoe, and Brian Stock do so. Though there's one person he particularly wants to impress:

'My dad has been a big fan since he was younger. I was over the moon for him because he`s supported Bournemouth all his life and hopefully he`s proud of me.'

Unsurprisingly, like most of The Cherries youngsters, Webb was quick to praise Head of Youth, Joe Roach as well:

'Joe Roach has also played a massive part and he`s done so much for me. He changed me as a player and a person. When I first came in I had problems with still being a kid and Joe made me grow up and realise that it`s a job and that was a wake-up call.'

Webb has already made his debut for the club, coming on in the 85th minute, of the last game of the season against Morecambe, where he was shocked by the fans reception towards him:

'I couldn`t believe it and was surprised they even knew my name. They were singing my name and I thought I`d heard it wrong because I was warming up with Fletch and the fans were singing my name!'

I'm sure all Cherries fans will be hoping George makes it to the big-time and provides us with many memorable moments. Good luck to him.
